Alberta Highway 2 — QEII
Cardston, AB to Edmonton, AB
Alberta's Highway 2, the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, is the primary freight corridor between Calgary and Edmonton, running approximately 500 km. It carries the bulk of Alberta's interprovincial truck freight, including oil sands equipment, agricultural goods, and consumer distribution. The corridor is generally flat, well-maintained, and divided for most of its length, giving it one of the lowest risk profiles of any major Canadian freight highway. Winter driving conditions are manageable by Alberta standards, though blowing snow and occasional black ice remain hazards.
