Interstate 80

San Francisco, CA to Teaneck, NJ

I-80 is the northern transcontinental route, spanning 2,899 miles from the San Francisco Bay Area through Sacramento, Reno, Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, Omaha, Des Moines, Chicago, and Cleveland to the New York metro. It is the second-longest US interstate and a primary coast-to-coast freight artery. Two segments account for the majority of serious incidents: Donner Pass in the Sierra Nevada, where steep grades combine with the heaviest snowfall on any US interstate, and Sherman Hill near Laramie, Wyoming, where high elevation (8,600 ft), extreme winds, and ice create year-round hazards for trucks.
