Nebraska • United States of America
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) manages approximately 10,000 miles of state highways through one of the nation's most important agricultural freight corridors. I-80, running east-west across the state, is one of the highest-volume freight corridors in the US, carrying corn, soybeans, beef, and ethanol to domestic and export markets. NDOT administers commercial vehicle permits, the Nebraska 511 system, and enforces seasonal weight restrictions. The department coordinates with the Port of Omaha rail facilities and manages critical crossings of the Missouri River. Nebraska's position on the I-80 transcontinental corridor makes NDOT a key partner for national freight logistics operations.

Notable Rules
Nebraska allows one of the highest vehicle height limits in the US (14.5 ft) on most roads. GVW up to 95,000 lbs is permitted on qualifying state highways for multi-axle vehicles. I-80 traverses the state east-west and is a primary national freight corridor. Omaha and Lincoln are the primary freight hubs. No spring weight restrictions on primary highways due to Great Plains climate.
